One of the most cited papers was Warp Drive, Dark Energy, and the Manipulation of Extra Dimensions. A key point is that these papers did not begin with evidence of alien craft or secret propulsion systems. They began with existing theoretical work from mainstream physics. The warp-drive concept discussed in the DIRDs traces largely to physicist Miguel Alcubierre’s 1994 proposal. Where the physics became speculation
The most important limitation appeared almost immediately after the equations.
Alcubierre’s solution required forms of matter and energy that have never been demonstrated at the scales needed for propulsion.
