Why the Wider Menu Creates a Proof Problem
The strength of Puthoff’s framework is that it acknowledges uncertainty. The weakness is that uncertainty can become difficult to escape.
In ordinary science, competing explanations gain credibility by making different predictions. If one explanation predicts outcome A and another predicts outcome B, observations can gradually eliminate one possibility. The challenge with many ultraterrestrial proposals is that they often overlap.

A broad origin menu may be useful for brainstorming. It is less useful if no mechanism exists for narrowing the field.
Why Supporters Think the Broader Approach Is Necessary

- biological populations previously unknown to science.
Again, no publicly accepted evidence currently establishes such a civilisation.
Evidence for time-traveller models
Time-travel explanations would need:

- technology operating beyond known physical constraints,
- information verifiably originating from the future.
Such evidence remains absent from the public record.
Evidence for interdimensional explanations
This category is especially difficult because the underlying concept lacks a settled scientific definition.
