The first Bob Lazar broadcasts in 1989 established the core version of the story that still dominates discussion today: a secret facility called S-4 near Area 51, recovered non-human craft, reverse-engineering work, and a claimed insider role. What remained unverified
The central claims never acquired comparable documentation:
- No public records have established that Lazar worked at an S-4 reverse-engineering programme.
- No public evidence confirms that nine extraterrestrial craft were housed at the site.

The existence of Area 51 demonstrates that a highly secret testing complex operated in Nevada. It does not demonstrate that Lazar worked there. Nor does it establish the existence of a separate S-4 installation devoted to extraterrestrial technology.
Critics argue that the confirmed reality of one secret programme should not be treated as proof of another alleged programme.
