Introduction
Official US government and NASA reviews of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) leave a narrow but important space for uncertainty: some reported incidents remain unexplained. What they do not do is publicly validate claims that the US government has recovered extraterrestrial craft, possesses alien technology, or runs confirmed reverse-engineering programmes. That distinction matters when assessing Kit Green’s credibility because Green is often discussed alongside stories about alleged recovered materials, biological evidence, intelligence briefings and hidden programmes.
For sceptics, the key point is not that every UAP report has been solved. It is that the strongest official reviews have repeatedly separated “unresolved” from “extraterrestrial”. In practical terms, those reviews place a public evidence boundary around claims frequently associated with Green’s wider reputation. They do not rule out future discoveries, but they also do not provide public confirmation for the most dramatic interpretations.
What AARO said about extraterrestrial technology
The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) was created to investigate military and government UAP reports and to review historical claims about secret programmes. Its findings are especially relevant because many modern crash-retrieval narratives rely on alleged government knowledge hidden from the public.
In its 2024 Historical Record Report, AARO stated that it found no empirical evidence that any US government investigation had confirmed extraterrestrial technology, recovered alien craft or reverse-engineering programmes. The report also said that historical reviews of government UFO investigations had not produced evidence of “off-world technology”. AARO went further than simply saying that cases remain unidentified. The office specifically examined long-running allegations that secret programmes had recovered non-human vehicles and concluded that it found no evidence supporting those claims. According to the report, named companies alleged to have worked on recovered alien technology denied possessing such materials, and investigators reported no verified evidence of hidden reverse-engineering efforts. This is particularly relevant to discussions around Green because some supporters point to his intelligence background, medical investigations and reported exposure to unusual claims as indirect support for broader recovery-programme narratives. AARO’s review does not treat professional proximity to classified environments as proof. Instead, it asks whether documentary evidence, programme records and verifiable testimony support the claims. Publicly, AARO says they do not. [AARO]aaro.milUAP ImageryThe All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office received a report from a U.S. military Service consisting of six minutes and forty-tw…
Sceptics therefore argue that Green’s involvement in controversial cases cannot be treated as a substitute for the evidential standards AARO claims to have applied. Even if Green was briefed on extraordinary allegations, the public record still lacks the independently verified evidence that AARO says it searched for. [AARO]aaro.milAARO HomeHas the Department found any evidence of extraterrestrial technology? No. Examination of UAP sightings is ongoing. AARO uses a r…
AARO’s criticism of circular reporting
One of the most significant sceptical points concerns AARO’s description of “circular reporting”. The office argued that some crash-retrieval stories appeared to be reinforced by people repeating claims that ultimately traced back to the same limited networks of belief and testimony rather than independent evidence. [The Washington Post]washingtonpost.comThe Washington PostPentagon report finds no evidence of alien visits, hidden…8 Mar 2024 — Pentagon report finds no evidence of alien v…
That observation matters because Green often appears in UFO literature as a credibility node. Authors, interviewees and researchers sometimes cite Green’s alleged knowledge, while other accounts cite those same authors and researchers as corroboration. Sceptics argue that this can create the impression of multiple confirming sources when the underlying evidential base is much thinner.
The existence of respected officials within such networks does not automatically resolve the problem. AARO’s position is essentially that institutional credentials and repeated stories are not equivalent to verifiable proof. What NASA said about scientific evidence
NASA’s 2023 Independent Study Team approached the issue from a different direction. Unlike AARO’s historical and investigative review, NASA focused on scientific methods, data quality and future research.
The study concluded that there was no conclusive evidence in the peer-reviewed scientific literature showing that UAP are extraterrestrial in origin. At the same time, NASA emphasised that poor-quality data and inconsistent reporting make many cases difficult to evaluate. [NASA Science]science.nasa.govNASA ScienceIndependent Study Team ReportTo date, in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting… Space That distinction is often lost in public debate. Much of the material associated with his reputation involves alleged briefings, witness accounts, medical cases, reported biological effects or second-hand descriptions of classified information. These claims may be interesting, but they generally do not fit the kind of openly available, reproducible scientific evidence that NASA says is required for stronger conclusions.
In other words, NASA’s position does not function as a confirmation of Green-linked narratives. If anything, it highlights how far many of those narratives remain from conventional scientific validation. Why unresolved cases do not prove recovery claims
The strongest argument made by some Green supporters is not that every UFO case has been solved, but that unresolved cases leave open the possibility of extraordinary explanations.
Official reviews largely agree with the first part of that statement. AARO continues to maintain archives of unresolved reports, and some incidents remain under investigation because available data are incomplete. NASA has likewise acknowledged that certain observations cannot currently be identified with confidence. U.S. Department of War [Stars and Stripes]stripes.comufos pentagon aliens 15848893Stars and StripesNo evidence of aliens, but 21 cases need 'further analysis…14 Nov 2024 — The Pentagon has not found any verifiable ev…
The disagreement concerns what follows from that uncertainty.
An unresolved radar track, pilot report or sensor anomaly does not automatically become evidence of extraterrestrial technology. There are several reasons:
- Missing data can prevent identification without implying a non-human origin.
- Sensor limitations can produce ambiguous results.
- Classified aircraft, drones or foreign systems may not be publicly identifiable.
- Some cases remain unresolved simply because too little information exists. [NASA Science]science.nasa.govNASA ScienceIndependent Study Team ReportTo date, in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting… [reuters]reuters.comMost sightings were identified as ordinary objects or phenomena. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) released this conclusion… AARO explicitly stated that many unresolved cases could potentially be solved if better data were available. That is a very different claim from saying they represent alien craft. [Reuters]reuters.comMost sightings were identified as ordinary objects or phenomena. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) released this conclusion…
This distinction is central to sceptical assessments of Green. Green’s public profile sometimes becomes attached to broader narratives about recovered vehicles, non-human materials or hidden government knowledge. Yet official reviews have repeatedly separated the existence of unresolved UAP reports from evidence for those larger conclusions.
Where official reviews leave the Green debate
The official reviews neither disprove every extraordinary claim nor endorse them. Their findings leave three positions standing simultaneously.
First, some UAP incidents remain unexplained. AARO and NASA both acknowledge this. [NASA Science]science.nasa.govNASA ScienceIndependent Study Team ReportTo date, in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting… [2U.S.] Department of War
Second, neither organisation reports public evidence that unexplained cases represent extraterrestrial technology. NASA says there is no conclusive scientific evidence for that conclusion, while AARO says it has found no verified evidence of alien craft, extraterrestrial technology or government reverse-engineering programmes. U.S. Department of War [NASA Science]science.nasa.govNASA ScienceIndependent Study Team ReportTo date, in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting… [NASA Science]science.nasa.govNASA ScienceIndependent Study Team ReportTo date, in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, there is no conclusive evidence suggesting…
Third, official uncertainty is not the same thing as confirmation. This is the point most relevant to Green. His intelligence and medical background may justify taking his statements seriously enough to examine them. However, the major official reviews do not currently provide public support for treating Green-linked recovery stories, biological claims or alleged crash programmes as established facts. The gap between “unresolved” and “verified extraterrestrial technology” remains the central evidential problem.
